5K Route

The 5K Walk/Run is a down and back race taking place on the Cuyahoga Valley National Park towpath. The path is paved for a portion and then turns to pressed rock. It is relatively flat and is shaded by trees. It also runs along the Cuyahoga River. The MapMyRun maps show the course and elevation. This will be a timed chip race. Participants can run or walk at their own preference. Strollers and dogs are permitted but are requested to be at the back of the group.


1 Mile Fun Run Route

The 1 Mile Fun Run is also a down and back race that will go the opposite direction from the 5K in order to ease congestion on the towpath trail. This race will not be timed. Participants can choose to walk or run. Children participants will receive a ribbon for their participation. The path is paved for a portion and turns to pressed rock. The trail is relatively flat and is shaded by trees. Participants will need to be aware of 5K runners as to not interfere with the time race in the small portions where they overlap.


Packet pick-up will take place on the day of the race from 7:15 - 8:25 a.m. Participants will look for the designated area with the letter of their last name to check in and pick up the race packet and bib. Onsite registration will also be available.

Race participants will be guaranteed a t-shirt if registered by July 6th. Drinks and snacks will be provided at the finish line: Water, bananas, apples, pretzels, chips, granola bars, juice boxes, fruit snacks, etc.


The 5k includes chip tracking by Greater Cleveland XC via Chronotrack Live System.


Mile markers will be highly visible at each mile along the 5K course and the turn around point will be clearly marked with signage and volunteers. The 1 Mile Fun Run will have clear signage and volunteers at the turnaround point.


Located on the 5K route at the 3/4 mile mark on both sides (one side up and one side back). A small amount of water will be available at the turn-around point. Water will be provided at the start/finish line.


There will be a medical aid station available at the start/finish line. Volunteers will be placed along the path should you need immediate medical assistance.


Restroom facilities are located at the Station Road Bridge Depot which is beside the start/finish line.


Music will be provided at the start/finish line. New this year – Finish Line Photo Station! A
station will be setup for runners to take a photo and post to social media


Ample parking is available at the Station Road Bridge Trailhead parking lot, which is right near the registration area and start/finish line. If additional parking is needed it is available on the Brecksville Reservation side.


The towpath is located near the Brecksville Station train stop for the Cuyahoga Valley Railway. You will see signs to the Station Road Bridge Trailhead. Signage will be placed off of Riverview helping direct participants to the registration area.


Race bibs can be transferred over to others. For a transfer to the 1 Milefrom the 5K, simply email your request. We do not charge a transfer fee nor provide a refund for the cost difference. For a transfer to the 5K from the 1 Mile, it will be an additional cost, but your 1 Mile registration will be considered into the total. For example, you paid $20 for the 1 Mile and the 5K is $25, we will charge you $5. Contact [email protected] and we will gather the necessary details.

We understand emergencies, work schedules, and injuries occur. If you are unable to make it to the event, we are unable to provide a refund or deferral. The main reason is everything we need to provide our runners with an amazing racing experience is already purchased prior to your arrival at the start line. Other races suggest using your entry fee as a donation and it can be written off on your taxes.

The Keira Kilbane Foundation 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will happen rain or shine. If the race has to be cancelled due to inclement weather there will be no refunds
